It doesn't quite feel like summer until you've had that big slice of strawberry shortcake topped with freshly picked strawberries. Pick your own berries on weekends starting June 14 at South Natick's Belkin Family Lookout Farm. Strawberry season only lasts for a few weeks, so don't wait to fill up your basket with these tasty fruits of summer. Admission to the farm is $8.
2. Check out the Dragon Boat Festival
OK, so it's not the Head of the Charles -- but it's just as fun. On June 8, the shores of the Charles River will be awash in Asian culture. Nosh on miso and egg rolls, observe intricate dance routines and watch teams of 16 paddle their way up the river in fancy dragon-shaped boats. Boats are launched at 9 a.m. and food is served at noon.
Self-guided, educational scavenger hunts are a perfect way to enjoy the outdoors. These hunts, known as Quests, are gaining popularity and the Trustees of Reservations is currently offering 16 for the summer. Families can answer questions, decipher clues, and explore some of Massachusetts' finest parks. Quest season generally runs from May to October, and quests are free with park admission. Admission varies, $5.
